On 13.07.2012 after reading in news that the Swan couple in Aulanko Pond, Finland had given birth to a Cygnet for the second time in history, we decided to go and see if we’d be lucky to get a glimpse of the new member in Swan family!
When we reached the Pond, the sky was cloudy and we could not see the Swans.
But slowly the clouds started withdrawing and sky became clear.
From distance, we could see one swan sitting on the curb of pathway.
The Swan was evidently unaffected by our presence!
We searched all sides of the Pond for the Cygnet.
We decided to go to other side of the pond to see see if we could find the cygnet there.
We were about to give up, when the Cygnet appeared on the other side and we rushed back there to film it.
The baby swan can be seen mostly tagging along his mother.
The beautiful Swan family in a beautiful blue heart.
The Cygnet is again tagging along his mother on right side.
Swans and their cygnet + Ducks and Seagulls
In the video you can see the Swan trying to prevent the Duck from entering the pond, and a tag game between a golden eyed Duck and a Mallard. If you are only interested to see the baby swan, you may forward the first 6-7 minutes of the video. Filmed on 13.07.2012

Oh! how peaceful and beautiful. The swans are beautiful, but the trees and foliage are more beautiful. Thank you for sharing and for stopping by my blog. This is in Finland?
Thank you for appreciating. Yes this is in Hämeenlinna city in Southern Finland. 86% of Finnish landscape is Forest, of which 75% is Pine and rest is Deciduous forest which has spruce and birch etc. you can catch a glimpse of diverse Finnish flora in: https://septicalvar.wordpress.com/2012/12/13/trip-to-aulanko-landscape-tower-22-5-2011-hameenlinna-finland/ at 3:20 minutes on-wards.
thanks for the great pictures of the cygnet. where i live there is so much undergrowth along the river that you never see the babies until they are much older. but the families are larger. last year there were five babies in one family. so sweet! of course i didn´t get to see them until they were adolescents…so i really love the little one in your pictures.
I’m glad you liked it.
My main blog photo is of two swans in Stockholm harbor. I wondered why they like Scandinavia so much. . . ;o)
Swans are native to Scandinavia and some other countries only, plus its the national bird of Finland. so liking is but natural. I like you swan pic!
Thanks. I had to catch a train, otherwise I would not have been up that early! ;o)
blessings come in disguise;)
The cygnet is so cute. What a lovely story. We need more of those feel-good events. Thanks for sharing it with us all.
