My Mom and Brother enjoy camping, so we decided to go to Evo Hiking Area. Evo is one of the largest continuous forested areas in the southern Finland. Inside the 47 sq.km. large Hiking Area, you can walk on marked trails and stay overnight in lean-to shelters and designated camping sites. We had been there before so we tried to find a lean-to shelter we had not visited. We spotted “Syrjänalunen” on map and headed there. Once we reached, we went to check out the water body in the area and this is how it looked:
We found this Lean-to-shelter and set up a camp in it.
Once we were done setting up the camp, I went to explore the surroundings.
Notice the Dragonfly on grass.
Noticed a plane in the sky.
The Forest was full of Blueberries. My Mom picked some and ate a lot more.
We had also heard that the beavers had been making dams in the area, so we went to search for beavers and found these dead trees caught in water which looked straight out of Ghost Stories.
There were many such trees eaten by Beavers
How many Frogs can you find?
I found many such.
Beautiful shots, thanks.
Thanks 🙂
I love the looks of those blueberries!
Irresistible! Isn’t it? 🙂
This is amazing, thank you for sharing your photos. I want to visit Finland and now I am even more inspired.
Oh That’s great! I love it when fellow bloggers find my posts useful and they say they want to visit Finland. That’s the best compliment I can get! 🙂
No snow?! You disappoint me 😀
oops this is from summer ’12 😉 Will try to get fresh snow pics for you!
Beautiful images. I love the picture of the boat. So serene!
Yes, I like that place so much. the tranquil water made everything so peaceful and pure.
Wow. I think I would have found this hike fun too. I love nature, and your photographs are really well done! Thanks for posting them!
Thank you for appreciation. You must try it out yourself to know how much fun it was!
I think you’re right!
What a great place and superb pictures!
yes, Its beautiful. Thanks
very beautiful and natural,,,, 😀
Thanks 🙂
Beautiful…. Love the clear tranquil looking waters and the ghost like trees.
Yes, the water is so clear that you can see the land underneath.
It looks as though you had a grand time! Wonderful pictures.
Yes indeed. there was so much to capture but with my limited means I could only bring this much. Glad you liked 🙂
I felt so peaceful looking at these shots; that small bridge reminds me of the one i had to cross over a small slough to get from the barnyard to my house. Those clouds in the reflection are so stunning!
Thanks for following my blog.
Thank you. such planks are put all over forests, so people can walk safely in rains and swamps. And I think it also guides us the route 🙂
Love these photographs.
Thank you.
What a beautiful place! Thank you for posting this, now I can add it to the list of places I would like to visit before I leave Finland =)
Glad I could help 🙂
Absolutely gorgeous photos. I am super jealous I cannot go there.. maybe one day!
If you want you can surely be there, its just a matter of time! Thanks for appreciating 🙂
Lovely photographs
Thank you.
I love the reflection images!
Yes, those are the best pics. The water was crystal clear everything was clearly visible over and under it!
My family loves camping as well, though we have not been in a long time. It’s harder to get my teenaged sons to agree to leave their computers and video games behind than it used to be. Beautiful photos. (I saw five frogs.)
Well, I also like video games but I equally like seeing new places and being close to nature. Maybe you could plan fun things to do and their favorite food, and invite your sons’ friends and cousins so they find it more fun than they think it’d be!
thanks for liking!
Especially the first few pics of the sky in the water tickle my fancy. Absolutely stunning! Lovely environment. Are the bugs bad in summer like in Norway? I lived in Nova Scotia for a few years and was reminded of that when I saw your images. A small stream ran through my property, right at the back, where beavers lived and changed the course of the stream, of course. 🙂 I saw them many times and during one winter I spotted two otters on the ice near where the stream still flowed. Idyllic spot (apart from the fact that the property was the last one on the list of the snow plough and that we could easily be snowed in for two days during a bad snow storm!)
Those sky reflection pics are my favorite too. the water was crystal clear. Mosquitoes depend on the summer temperatures and rainfall. This year there were a lot more mosquitoes than normally. Beavers 😀 Peaceful, isn’t it? thanks for sharing your experience!
Beavers… yes, I love to watch animals in their natural habitat, even if they ‘do damage.’ 😉 When the house was up for sale I wished for a buyer who would respect them too, and he did. First thing he said was that it makes no sense to break down a beaver dam because they’ll build one just a little further. I miss the spot, but not the isolation. Better to be a transient at times…
Very beautiful and pristine!
Blessings ~ Wendy
Yes, I agree. Thank you 🙂
The reflections in the water are wonderful and I am fascinated by the lean to shelter; like a small wooden cave. Is the water warm enough for swimming?
The water was spring based, so it was cold but it didn stop us from swimming in it 😀
A superb selection giving a wonderful sense of place and atmosphere.
Thanks!
i love your photos!
Thank you 🙂
Thanks for visiting my blog. Great shots! I especially like the first 4 with the reflections of the white clouds next to the green underwater world. Cheers, harrie.
Thanks! yeah those are my favorite too. captures both worlds!
These are beautiful photos! I will be visiting hameenlinna for a short time in may and would like to add a few days of hiking. Do you have any suggestions about what routes I should consider?
You can hike around Vanaja lake and walk to Aulanko. Walk to Hameen ilves reitti, Heinisuo is part of it. Can also walk around Ahvenisto lake. Hope you enjoy!
Thank you for the advice. I can’t wait!
Have fun! 🙂
This looks like a wonderful place to spend some time. I really like the shots you took of the water – the detail in them is utterly surprising.
When we were there, we did not want to come back. the place was so captivating.
Looks like a beautiful place to hike indeed. Well the pictures were superb…..
Gorgeous photos, really enjoyed them! Thanks for posting and for stopping by.
Thank you.
Thanks for posting, I enjoyed reading about that.
Thanks.
